Ross Newell can usually be seen and heard as the lead singer and songwriter in the popular americana/bluegrass band The Mulligan Brothers. Even as they have toured shows and festivals in the US and Europe, they continue to perform intimate fan shows. Ross explains "The spirit of the whole thing has been rejuvenating for us. Early on you take gigs before you even know what kind of gigs you want. Now we’ve discovered that everybody benefits more, including us, when we can get comfortable and there are no strangers in the room."

Ross says "It takes time to write songs that challenge the listener and me. I don’t want to write songs that just lead to the next rhyme. I live with these songs every day and it is important for me to identify with the song every time. If I have to fake it while I write it, then I am going to have to fake it every night, and that just seems like a miserable existence to me."

“Singer/songwriter Ross Newell bring a warmth and finely crafted talent to the experience and the superb vocal tone of Newell is without doubt one of the finest live voices I have heard in some time. Newell is a fine writer and his eye for a couplet is as finely honed as ever. ” — Paul McGee, Lonesome Highway Magazine
